bouquetThis was a really, really hard one for me to come to terms with but now I can’t wait for Farmers Market days. That’s when I buy myself a huge bouquet of flowers in exactly the colors and floral assortments that trip my light fantastic. What I’ve learned over many decades is that waiting for someone to buy you flowers is fraught with disappointment. S/he loves you, s/he doesn’t love you…maybe. But maybe s/he just wants to show you love in a different way. My partner Patrick buys me exquisite jewelry and fancy chocolate bars. And he does the laundry. You want flowers? Pick out exactly what you want, take them home and put them in a beautiful vase.

  1. Hi Gail, sounds like you did good with Patrick ( buys jewelry & chocolate ). Buying your own flowers is not so bad 🙂

Krug, an inclusivity champion, notes that 20 minutes of time alone each day is something we all want, regardless of our political party, religious affiliation, sexual orientation or socioeconomic status. I don t know where you find your 20 minutes of Zen, but as we celebrate our collective independence, I hope 80 you find your independence in a favorite chair with a book, or in a bathtub or on a bike or on a horse or in a canoe or in a coffee shop.
