Hi! I'm Gail Rosenblum.
I'm a Minneapolis-based journalist, essayist, public speaker, and teacher. My work has appeared in dozens of newspapers and national magazines over more than 40 years.
My first book, “A Hundred Lives Since Then: Essays on Motherhood, Marriage, Mortality & More,” was updated in 2022 with 13 new essays. You can order it here
In 2019, I founded MPGL Entertainment (Man Plans, God Laughs), a nonprofit educational company producing animated films and teaching lessons to nurture a generation of informed, empathetic and engaged young adults. I stepped down from the nonprofit in January of 2025 and could not be prouder of its new leadership and new name, Courage Coalition. Read more about it here.
I’m now full-time producer of “Milkweed,” a feature animation based on the Holocaust-era novel of the same name by beloved young adult author Jerry Spinelli.
I have a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of New Mexico, and a master’s degree in journalism, with a concentration in public health, from the University of Minnesota. My writing has garnered awards from the Associated Press, the American Association of Sunday and Feature Editors, and the Society of Professional Journalists in Minnesota and Texas. I'm the mother of three young adults, bonus mom of three more and joyful “GG” to granddaughter Edie.

“I find joy in telling people stories because, in their telling, we can see how much we have in common.”
— Gail Rosenblum
